Choose environmentally certified products
When purchasing, check for authoritative environmental certification marks, strict limits on harmful substances (including formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticides, VOCs, carcinogenic dyes, etc.), applicable to all processing grades of leather.
Ask about material: Prioritize silicone leather or vegetable-tanned leather (less polluting but more expensive and with different performance) or leather clearly labeled low formaldehyde, chrome-free tanning. Regarding this artificial leather Choose water-based PU or products claiming low VOC emissions.
Of course, the higher the quality of the product, the higher the price, so buy within your means.

Source management
Select professional companies with scientific management capabilities, adopt refined processes based on scientific principles, and customized treatment plans to achieve targeted removal and accelerated release of source pollutants.
Air purification
Use high-quality air purifiers equipped with activated carbon filters (for VOCs/odors) and formaldehyde removal filters (for formaldehyde). Choose models with CADR values (Clean Air Output Rate) that suit the room area and clearly indicate effective formaldehyde/VOC removal.
Note: This is an auxiliary method and cannot solve the problem of releasing at the source.
Cleaning and maintenance
Use gentle, water-based leather cleaners and conditioners. Avoid using solvent-based products to prevent introducing new VOCs.
Regularly wipe surfaces with a slightly damp soft cloth to help remove settled dust (which may absorb contaminants).

Ensure adequate ventilation
This is an important and effective method when purchasing a new one! Place newly purchased leather furniture, cars, etc. in well-ventilated places (such as balconies, garages, rooms with all doors and windows open) to let odors spread for as long as possible (days to weeks).
Daily use: Keep indoor air circulating and open windows frequently for ventilation. When using a car, open the windows for ventilation for a few minutes before driving.

Note: Ventilation is the most basic and necessary method to solve leather furniture pollution, but it cannot completely cure pollution. Its effectiveness depends on the type of pollution source, release cycle, and environmental conditions.
Ventilation is like “diluting ink by opening a window,” but pollution sources are like “ink-soaking pens”—blocking the pen tip (controlling the source) is fundamental.
