Leather storage guide

Leather is a natural product derived from animals, so we should properly care for and maintain it to avoid unnecessary reactions.

The optimal physical conditions for leather care are 21°C and 50% humidity, which all laboratories must meet before sample testing. Leather must be left in this shape in the adjustment room for at least 48 hours.

Please note that our warehouse cannot regulate various conditions like a laboratory, so just like leather is stored in a warehouse, it is impossible for us to maintain optimal conditions during transportation to bring the leather to its optimal condition.

1. Packaging: After receiving the leather, open the packaging, take the leather out of the box, then unfold and smooth the folded areas. This is to prevent unnecessary accidents caused by leather that has experienced significant moisture during transportation, and to ensure ventilation. Changes in temperature and humidity during transportation and storage can cause leather to condense and compress.

2. Folding: Do not fold leather for too long, as the fibers at the folded areas can make creases especially difficult to remove.

3. Sunlight: Do not leave the leather exposed to direct sunlight for more than 30 minutes to prevent yellowing or color changes.

4. Humidity: The storage area for leather should be low and not damp (humidity below 70%~80%), and ventilation is essential. This is to prevent mold from appearing on the surface of the leather. On the other hand, excessively low humidity can cause the leather to become dry, with surface coatings and a soft feel, making the leather hard.

5. Water: Please remember that the leather storage area will not have water leakage.

6. Color: Do not mix different colored leathers in the same storage area. For example, do not stack mixed red and white leather on horses or pipes. Because some all-green skin with a red surface absorbs lighter and white layers and leaves some spots. Also, do not mix all green hides with coated leather. Quanqing leather has a very unique color; due to humidity, its color can easily transfer onto other leathers. Therefore, this is a major issue that requires special attention.
