The use of PVC leather in the building materials and decoration sector

Decorative PVC leather is one of the indispensable flooring materials for modern home decoration. 96 years ago, it was a product of medium quality and price, with a thickness of over 1.5 millimeters and a wear-resistant layer of over 0.1. It generally uses glass fiber with good flatness or double-coated backing. Plastic flooring leather is a type of soft flooring, mainly made from polyvinyl chloride resin, with appropriate additives added, and produced by coating or rolling on a sheet-like continuous substrate through processes such as coating.

There are three important reasons why PVC is widely used in the building materials industry:

1. Unique properties of PVC (rainproof, fire-resistant, anti-static, easy to mold)

2. The affordable nature of PVC. Ordinary adhesive film is applied directly to the surface of the board at room temperature using glue, so after one or two years, the film tends to peel off. PVC film, on the other hand, uses a specialized vacuum film pressing machine to press it onto the surface of the board at a high temperature of 110 degrees, making it less likely to fall off. Although PVC film has excellent quality assurance, some may say that PVC leather is ultimately a chemical product and cannot compare to natural materials, cannot eliminate toxicity and odors, and inevitably harms the environment. But that’s not the case. This is because the raw materials used to produce PVC film undergo special refining, completely removing toxic substances. Therefore, PVC is completely non-toxic and odorless, causing no irritation to human skin or respiratory systems. For those allergic to wood and paint, furniture or kitchenware packaged with PVC film is very suitable.

3. Easy to clean. Take furniture with PVC leather as the surface material: if these pieces do not use PVC leather but instead ordinary wood for the surface, then just cleaning and repairing them can add staggering costs. In a small town in the UK, people have been using wooden windows for the past twenty years. A survey was conducted on the cleaning and maintenance costs of these windows and compared them to those of PVC leather windows. The results showed that the cleaning cost for ordinary wooden windows was twice that of PVC leather windows.
